The 2026 programme for the Festes Baroques, now in its 23rd year, continues its exploration of early music—both historical and creative—in Bordeaux and the surrounding area.

New instrumental and vocal repertoires are on offer this year, such as the spectacular music of the Doges of Venice performed by a large early 17th-century brass ensemble, and the music of 16th-century virginalists.

The Hispanic craze following the marriage of Louis XIII in 1615 to the Infanta of Spain was cemented when Philip V of Spain married Marie-Louise of Savoy in 1701. From courtly airs to castanets, a truly colourful programme! Featuring music by Moulinié, Bataille, Bailly, Gaspar Sanz, Santiago de Murcia…
