La Grande Traversée

The Great Crossing to Podensac

From 15/07/2026 at 25/07/2026

The Garonne is part of our daily lives, but do we really know it? To discover it in a different light, the Convergence Garonne Community of Communes is launching *La Grande Traversée*, a new event dedicated to the river, its history, its biodiversity and its landscapes.

This first edition kicks off on 15 July with a barrel of wine being floated down the Garonne on board traditional wooden boats, a project organised by La Belle Parcelle and Chantiers Tramasset. Over three days, four ports across the region will host activities and tastings.

Walks, talks, tours, sporting activities and social events will then punctuate the second week of discoveries for visitors of all ages. This year’s theme of ‘origins’ invites you to explore the history of the Garonne and its influence on our region.
