Château de Roquetaillade to Mazeres
Languages spoken
Inhabited by the same family since 1306, it is one of the 10 most beautiful châteaux in France. Contemplate the ramparts, towers, keeps and the first Renaissance fireplaces in the Bordeaux region. Behind its austere medieval facades, the world of the great architect Viollet-le-Duc awaits you. In a Gothic Revival style, his creations are adorned with exuberant colours and motifs, the prelude to Art Nouveau. It’s a veritable cinema set, which has played host to Fantômas, Louis de Funès, Roger Moore…
In season, visit the museum with its Bazadaise breed, “the best meat in France” according to Jacques Chirac.
