A day out with the Garonne in Castets-et-Castillon: tours, walks, exploring the canal and the Garonne to Castets et castillon
Le 12/09/2026A weekend full of discoveries around the canal and the Garonne. Come and explore them from different angles on themed tours or on a walk.
SATURDAY
2 pm: find out how a lock works with Voies Navigables de France
3.30 pm: guided tour between locks 52 and 53, a 1 km walk accessible to people with reduced mobility
SUNDAY
10 am: guided walk of around ten kilometres, between the canal and the banks of the Garonne. Approximately 2 hours, easy level.
Picnic from your own bag on arrival.
2.00 pm: guided tour between lock 52 and Château du Hamel – a 1 km walk towards the high street, featuring notable houses, a view of lock 53 from the church, etc.
3.30 pm: guided tour of Château du Hamel, accompanied by the owners. Special opening of two rooms usually closed to the public.
