On his own sports stage

From his childhood memories, ball in hand, to historic sporting events, the actor juggles his passion and summons our memories. He takes us to Mexico City’s Azteca stadium, to the council housing estate where he grew up, but also to Berlin during the 1936 Olympics or to Montreal in 1976.

As the story unfolds, the comedian takes us on a journey of discovery.

Through his confidences, alternately facetious, smiling or emotional, he reveals the ambivalence of his relationship with sport, whose most beautiful as well as darkest faces he shows us.

And then we find ourselves asking the same question as he does: “Smith, Carlos, Comăneci, Freeman… All these sports figures have resisted diktats. I often wonder what I would have done in their place.”
