Exposition sur le Ciron to Saint-symphorien
From 04/06/2025 at 28/06/2025Languages spoken
The Ciron is a real treasure trove for our region, as this exhibition shows.
The Ciron has fostered a wide range of activities, from glassmaking and dyeing to washing clothes and water jousting at village festivals.
Thanks to the purity of its water, stable at 14°C, it is home to a wide variety of species, including trout, lampreys, eels and pike, as well as cistude turtles and otters.
It is also home to the oldest forest in France: a beech forest over 40,000 years old, the subject of studies by climatologists.
In the Sauternes region, the mists it generates allow ‘noble rot’ to develop, producing an exceptional wine.
Finally, the Hure, which flows through Saint-Symphorien before joining the Ciron, also contributes to this remarkable ecosystem.
