The three gardens at Mongenan bear witness to the transformation of gardens in the 18th century, from a symbolic, Baroque design inherited from antiquity to new forms inspired by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, of whom Mongenan is a prime example.
Ms Nicole Puisné, a botanist at SIGM (‘Savoirs et Images en Graves de Montesquieu’), will lead a tour of the three gardens and present the prestigious collection of herbariums linked to Rousseau.
To mark Heritage Days, Mongenan is preparing cuttings from heritage rose varieties, which will be given to visitors.
For 40 years, Mongenan Castle has brought together, through exhibitions, lectures, symposia and guided tours, numerous artists and politicians who now form part of its spiritual family.
This exhibition invites you to rediscover these figures and relive those special moments.
