Lecture at the Château de Mongenan: 5 Rue de Solférino to Portets

Le 01/11/2026

Some addresses are steeped in history. From the assassination of Philippe Henriot to the triumph of Mitterrand’s socialism, Rue de Solférino stands out as a highly political location.

It is also significant for having housed the Charles de Gaulle Institute, the office used by the General during his period in political exile, and then, in the same building—which had been converted into a bunker—the infamous, shadowy Service d’Action Civique.

Florence Mothe once entered these premises, which were better guarded than the Ministry of National Defence. She will take her audience on a tour of these premises during the lecture she will give at the Château de Mongenan in Portets on Sunday 1 November at 5 pm, as it is so important to know the

places in order to understand the issues; How was the SAC run? Who had access to its premises? What other addresses did it have in Paris and elsewhere? How were these premises funded?
