1916. The First World War. The Belgian Front. Pierre has just joined the troops, eager to prove himself. Behind the lines, as part of the team responsible for supplying food and equipment, Francis organises shows to keep the soldiers’ spirits up. Whilst the fighting rages, everyone tries to escape the brutality of war, if only for a moment. Contrary to the usual portrayal of heroism in war films, *Coward* subtly questions the notion of courage within the ultra-masculinist context of trench warfare.
