Château Filhot - SAUTERNES - Sud-Gironde

Etape 1

Muni du descriptif de la randonnée que vous trouverez dans les offices de tourisme de Bazas, Cadillac, Langon ou Saint-Macaire, vous pouvez débuter la randonnée !

Etape 2

Depuis la Place de la Mairie, descendez sur «Rue Principale», en direction de l'église et du lavoir. Passez devant l'église et, après le lavoir, prenez le premier chemin sur votre droite (chemin rural du bourg à Vimeney). À la première intersection, poursuivez à gauche sur «Vimeney» jusqu’au croisement avec le lieu-dit «Cap Lanne». Prenez à droite puis à nouveau à droite sur Pajot Ouest puis Barette. Le premier château que vous apercevrez n'est pas le moins célèbre, il s'agit du château Guiraud, après 2km100 de marche. Poursuivez tout droit vers "Le Parent» puis traversez la D125 et partez légérement sur la gauche vers «Route de Filhot».

Etape 3

Prenez la deuxième sur votre droite pour découvrir le Château Filhot et son parc à l’anglaise. Continuez tout droit puis tournez à gauche vers «Pineau Ouest». Tournez à droite vers «Commarque» et poursuivez dans cette direction jusqu’à l’intersection avec le lieu-dit Bonhomme».

Etape 4

Prenez à droite puis à droite à l’intersection avec la D125. Longez un lac puis tournez à droite vers le lieu dit «Michelle». Continuez tout droit pendant 1 kilomètre, jusqu’à rejoindre les bords du Ciron à Bommes puis poursuivez dans cette direction en passant par «Pont Daulan», «Peyremagne», «le Tachon» et « Chipaou». Vous apercevrez le château Lamourette, puis tournez à droite sur «La Gauche» et passez devant le Domaine de la Gauche.

Etape 5

Turn right again towards "La Touye" and then left at "l'Aubépin" towards the châteaux of Rayne Vigneau and La Tour Blanche. Turn right towards "La Tour Blanche", drive alongside the property and continue towards "Thinoy". At the next junction, cross over and take the road opposite, slightly to your right. Reach "Pont Daulan" and the banks of the Ciron. Turn left and retrace your steps until you come to the junction with the D125, where you turn left and complete the tour with two châteaux classified as Second Growth Sauternes in 1855. Château Lamothe Despujols will be on your right and Château Lamothe-Guignard will round off your lovely walk.

Continue along the D125 until you reach the centre of the village of Sauternes, your starting point.

The golden wine flows through the Sauternes region, world-famous for its famous sweet white wines. The Sauternes region is crossed by the Ciron river. This modest tributary from the Landes region is ideal for astonishing canoe trips or delightful romantic strolls, but it also plays an essential role in the development of botrytis cinerea, which in autumn forms the basis of the great sweet wines described by Mauriac as “an exaggeration of the exquisite”.

The Sauternes region is a gentle discovery, rich in a thousand details, with its ubiquitous stone walls revealing the abundance of limestone just beneath the surface of the earth.
