The protected ornithological reserve at Lac de La Prade, 5 km from Bazas, is home to exceptional flora and fauna. Set amidst rolling hills, the immense reservoir offers enthusiasts an area of tranquillity ideal for birdwatching. A large colony of grey herons makes its home here, alongside pairs of great crested grebes. In addition, the slopes around the lake are one of Gironde’s priority dry grassland orchid sites. Fishing pontoons and picnic tables are available for walkers.
