Tour de Gironde by bike: stage 6 – Saint-Symphorien / Salles to Saint-symphorien

37.94 km(s) 2h31 Difficulty : Easy
Stage 1 The landscape is changing: since the fires of 2022, the trees have given way to greenery that has reclaimed its rights. It's time to get out the sun cream and head for the Hostens ponds to cool off.
Stage 2 At this point, turn right off the track and head for the Domaine Départemental Gérard Lagors. Toilets and water points are available on site. In season, there are two supervised swimming areas and snack bars.
Step 3 A stopover in Belin-Beliet means you can stock up on everything from supermarkets to local groceries. Take a short diversions to the Ferme des Bleuets, where you'll discover organically grown plants.
Another must-see nearby is the church of Saint-Pierre de Mons.
Another must-see nearby is Saint-Pierre de Mons church.
Step 4 Just before you arrive in the village, don't miss the "Trois sans nom" work of art from the Contemporary Art Forest, by the side of the track. In Salles, we recommend that you stop off at the Val de l'Eyre Tourist Office, which has been awarded the "Accueil Vélo" label: all the information you need for a relaxing stopover (to get there, leave the track by turning left into rue du Château).

This stage passes through the Landes de Gascogne Regional Nature Park, with its immense pine forest planted by man and the River Leyre, a river that will give you some life-saving breaks. Since the fires of 2022, there have been fewer trees in the landscape, but nature is quickly reclaiming its rights!

Great! This part of the route is a great opportunity for a swim or picnic: head for the Domaine Départemental Gérard Lagors. Ponds with supervised beaches in season, leisure activities or walks to stretch your legs.

We’ve got a special treat for you, because a bit of art while you’re pedalling can’t go amiss: works of art in the heart of nature line the route through the Forêt d’art Contemporain. You’ll find one in François Mauriac’s former holiday chalet in Saint-Symphorien and another directly beside the piste in Salles.
