Le Ciron to Bernos-beaulac
The Ciron is a peaceful river that rises in the north of the Landes department and flows for around a hundred kilometres before joining the Garonne. Nicknamed “the river of castles”, the Ciron is lined with an exceptional castral heritage.
Every autumn morning, the Ciron meets the Garonne, creating a fog that envelops the valley and bathes the Sauternes vineyards. This phenomenon, followed by drying in the sun in the afternoon, encourages the development of Botrytis cinerea, or noble rot, which gives the wines of the region their unique concentration and aromatic richness.
There are plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling enthusiasts.
Hiking enthusiasts will find numerous trails along the Ciron.
For a more leisurely stroll, the Belvédère du Ciron interpretation trail offers uninterrupted views of the river and its natural surroundings.
