Eglise Saint-Pierre de Loupiac to Loupiac

This Romanesque church, decorated with plant and geometric motifs on the entablature and capitals of the eastern openings, was flanked in the 16th century by a square tower to the south. Restored between 1850 and 1859, the church had its aisle removed in order to restore the original layout of the building. However, a new bell tower was built. The apses, forming a semi-circular plan and vaulted in a cul-de-sac, were rebuilt. The architect added a rib-vaulted transept and covered the nave with a pointed barrel vault.

The western facade of the church is composed of a forecourt, pierced by three arcades, and divided by profusely ornamented bands. Beneath the cornice, supported by sculpted modillions, is a frieze depicting the Last Supper, between Original Sin and the Adoration of the Lamb. Saint John leans his head against Christ’s shoulder, in the midst of the 11 apostles. This
