Ligenaria medieval music festival to Saint-Macaire

Course and concerts during the Festival Ligenaria, 1st edition, in Saint-Macaire

A 2-day course at the Maison Messidan for singers on the theme of “First medieval lauds” with 4h30 of singing per day, in medieval polyphony, plainchant, modal improvisation; experience of ancient singing not required.

Concerts conclude each day of the festival, with the participation of La Belle Iguana ensemble in the Ursulines chapel in Saint-Macaire.

The first concert (Saturday 9 August) takes place at 7.30pm. It is preceded by an explanatory lecture. It features the Trecento, combining polyphony, monodies and medieval organs.

The second concert (Sunday 10 August) takes place in 2 parts: at 6.30pm, restitution of the medieval singing course and at 7.30pm, the “Venite a laudare” concert based around the lauds from the Cortona manuscript.
