Fêtes de la Saint Jean à Bazas to Bazas
From 23/06/2026 at 29/06/2026Traditionally, the people of Bazadais have celebrated the patron saint of their city in June since the earliest days of Christianity. The festival begins with a ceremony honouring the bull, during which the city’s master butchers would once offer a bull to the bishop and then to the city’s jurats. This colourful ceremony, accompanied by music, is now re-enacted on Cathedral Square on 23 June. It is followed by the bonfires of Saint John, which are lit in front of the cathedral in a ceremonial fashion. All events are free of charge, with a funfair running all week on the Allées Saint Sauveur.
