Fêtes de la Saint Jean à Bazas to Bazas
From 23/06/2026 at 29/06/2026Traditionally, the people of Bazadais have celebrated their town’s patron saint in June since the earliest days of Christianity. The festival begins with a ceremony honouring the bull, during which the town’s master butchers would once offer a bull to the bishop and, later, to the town’s councillors. This colourful ceremony, accompanied by music, is now re-enacted in the Cathedral Square. It is followed by St John’s fires erected in front of the cathedral and ceremoniously lit.
On the programme:
23/06: A show steeped in the colours of yesteryear! “Prince of the Moon Parade and Banquet” with its procession of stars, tribute to the bull, illumination of the cathedral and Saint John’s fires!
26–27/06: Festive concerts, bodegas and bandas.
29/06: Fireworks.
All events are free of charge, with a funfair running all week on the Allées Saint Sauveur.
