Shum: Slavic word meaning noise. Shum is a duo formed by Canadian-Ukrainian pianist Anastasia Rizikov and Franco-Russian cellist Lisa Strauss. The word shum, which means ‘noise’ in French, evokes the Slavic origins of the two musicians and the repertoire they perform.
The duo take audiences on a journey through the music of Eastern Europe, Central Europe and the Balkans. The two musicians make the great classical repertoire resonate with works from different periods, cultures and styles.
