Sri Lankan dances by Jyotsna Liyanaratne to Bazas

In April–May 2024, after 20 years without setting foot in her father’s homeland, Jyotsna Liyanaratne travelled to Sri Lanka and began research into the country’s ritual and traditional dances.

September 2025: she enrols on the first year of a Master’s degree in Dance at the University of Paris 8, with the aim of progressing to a PhD, focusing her research on the role of women in the ritual and traditional dances of Sri Lanka.

In May 2026, Jyotsna invites you to a gathering at the Polyèdre to discover the world of these Sri Lankan dances and present the initial findings of her research.

On Monday 8 May, at the Vog cinema, UniPop on India and nationalism with a screening of Sandhya Suri’s film Santosh.
