Départ depuis l'Eglise St MartinThis area was particularly hard hit by the fires of 2022. Composed mainly of pine forests, interspersed with mosaics of open environments: wet moors, peaty areas and lagoons. In some places, the presence of peat, a combustible material, burnt the soil deep down. The heat rose to extreme temperatures, even oxidising the sand and giving it a red appearance, most likely burning the seeds buried in the soil.
St Martin’s church has a Romanesque choir and transept listed as a historic monument with superb capitals and wall paintings dating from the 14th century representing the work of the 12 months of the year.
