Rendez-vous aux jardins – discover a garden inspired by the Middle Ages to La sauve

Between the tithe barn and the Abbey’s outer wall, the Friends of Sauve Majeure Abbey association created a medieval-inspired garden in 2013, in partnership with the Maison Familiale Rurale and the Maison des vins de l’Entre-deux-Mers. It comprises two terraces: the upper level recreates the atmosphere that this type of garden might have had at the time of the abbey’s construction, that is to say in the 11th century, whilst the lower level takes the liberty of featuring plants from the ‘post-Crusades’ period. Enhanced each year with new plant varieties, it features espaliered fruit trees. Area: 341 m².
