Mathieu Boogaerts is an unclassifiable musician who moves through the French chanson landscape with a rare freedom. He made a name for himself in the 90s with his soft, almost whispery voice, chiselled, offbeat lyrics, and a minimalist yet deeply expressive world.

Influenced by French chanson, African rhythms and a certain idea of pop, Boogaerts imposes his own way of inhabiting the stage: he sings as if he were talking to someone he knows well, with humour, tenderness and a touch of the absurd.

Over the years, he has built up a coherent body of work, a mix of stripped-back ballads, mischievous compositions and musical confidences. His concerts are just like him: intimate, funny, touching – suspended moments where you listen in a different way.
