Landscapes and monuments fall victim to the ravages of time. They change, become ruins, are rebuilt, urbanised, or fall into disuse… In every era, the same place presents a different reality.
Rik’m’s paintings seek to rediscover horizons hidden in his memory and to freeze them in time. They are fixed on a canvas at a given moment, yet they are timeless and devoid of any clues that might guide the viewer.
For freedom is at the heart of the exhibition: it is up to each individual to see what they wish in each painting, to dream, think and interpret without constraint.
