The Masquer to Portets

The Mascaret consists of a series of waves similar to a swell.

There are usually four to five large waves, reaching up to 2.5 metres in height, spaced approximately 10 metres apart. These are followed by a very choppy section. The entire wave train moves at a speed that depends on the depth, ranging from around 15 to 30 km/h depending on the location.
