La Boucle de la Gorse to Escaudes

Etape 1

Meet at Route de Soubiran, outside Escaudes Town Hall, on the D932E8, for the start of this walk.

Take the path directly opposite the town hall.

Etape 2

Quelques mètres plus loin, à la patte d'oie, empruntez le chemin sur votre droite. Au 1ème kilomètre, tournez à droite, toujours sur le même sentier.

Etape 3

Vous approchez du ruisseau de la Gorse, que vous longez sur plusieurs mètres. A 1,5 kms, poursuivez sur la gauche. 250m plus loin, prenez à droite.

Etape 4

After 2.7 km, you have two options:

- carry on straight ahead (recommended if the Ciron is in flood)

- take the path on your right to reach the banks of the Ciron, a Sensitive Natural Area and an iconic watercourse. Then rejoin the main path.

Etape 5

Shortly after passing the 3 km mark, turn left and walk for 1 kilometre. At the 4.1 km mark, turn right and continue until you reach the junction with the tarmac road ‘Chemin du Gaillon’.

Etape 6

Tournez à gauche, longez la petite route goudronnée sur quelques mètres et prenez tout de suite à gauche. Le chemin s'enfonce à nouveau en pleine forêt. Poursuivez sur ce sentier jusqu'au kilomètre 5.

Etape 7

Au 5ème kilomètre, empruntez le chemin sur votre droite, jusqu'à revenir à la patte d'oie. Prenez légèrement à droite et revenez sur vos pas jusqu'à apercevoir votre point de départ, la mairie d'Escaudes.

On the edge of the Gironde moors, the Escaudes circuit, known as “Aygues Caudes” in Gascon, refers to the warm waters of a now forgotten spring. It offers walkers a wide variety of landscapes, between forests and the upper Ciron valley.
